The Tennessee Principals Association was founded in 1939 as a support system for Tennessee school leaders at the lower grades. Over the decades, it has evolved as the premier association for Tennessee K-12 principals. This brochure identifies recent partnerships and ongoing products and services which contribute to principal success.

Consensus about the importance of the principal in a successful school is frequently reported in research and in practice. What is rarely noted is the variety of approaches resulting in achieving the results.

Rarely do the acknowledgements chronicle the preparation tracks followed, the range of experiences completed, or the personal qualities common in many cases. Almost never is there recognition that the incremental improvements result from the diligent participation in improvement practices some time after completion of higher education programs. For many principals, their biggest allies are their professional associations and local district resources.
